Dorka Bartha

Bartha Dorka is originally a historian and works as a journalist in her everyday life, while passionately pursuing photography in her free time. She began teaching herself photography, finding it the perfect way as a university student to combine endless urban wanderings, house parties, and urbex explorations with capturing images. Around 2014, she discovered the off-season atmosphere of Lake Balaton as a subject and has since been cycling the lake’s shores. Her experiences have led to a book and multiple exhibitions.

„Perhaps because of my historian’s instinct, my favorite theme to this day is capturing the various forms of memory, especially the ones connected to places, urban landscapes, and buildings, and the stories that hover on the boundary between individual and collective consciousness. I’m fascinated by transforming them into images.”
